hey j --

i am not too inspired by this setlist, but the shkdn is pretty good and the LOST SAILOR>DEAL has peaked my interest....... love me some lost sailor, yes i do.

does bobby play LOST SAILOR with ratdog? or OMSN, or EL PASO, or hell, does he play SUGAR MAGS, or NEW MINGLEWOOD? or CASSIDY? or TMNS?????

come back to us BOB, we love your songs.... we want you to play them all....

(last i looked, it seemed like he was doing more JERRY songs than his own....!?!.......... COME ON BOB! why you holdin out on us?)

This site breaks down the number of times ratdog has performed a song and how often. Should answer some questions. Not a big ratdog fan but I too love Lost sailor so I looked up the history and it's in rotation but not that often

hey lobster,

thanks for pointing this out -- and looking at his sets i see that my perception is SOMEWHAT wrong -- he is playing a fair amount of his own material but i am just SO thrown off by the ALTHEAs, MISS 1/2s, HELP ON THE WAYs, LOSERs, TOUCH OF GREYs and the like.....

i mean, if i knew it was gonna be 95% BOB, warts and all, and only 5% SHAKEDOWN STREETs i would be itchin' to go -- but to think i am gonna feel uncomfortable and embarassed half the time, i wouldn't -- so, that's where i'm at....

i understand that as a band, you need variety... and as a fan you want variety -- so the EASY ANSWERs is to play some other Dead material to phil the gaps -- but the inspiration just isn't there -- IN FACT!! iam enjoying this LOST SAILOR so much right now, BOBBY sounds great!!!!!! but i am not that interested in hearing the JACK A ROE or UNCLE JOHNS from this show........

it's ludicrous I KNOW! but mix in some newer originals and interesting OTHER COVERS and you could have amazing sets built like this:

Set 1:
Playin in the Band>
Supplication jam>
Around & Around
Black Throated Wind
Heaven Help the Fool>
Jack Straw

Set 2:
Promised Land
Not Fade Away>
GDTRFB (instrumental/take a break from singing Bob)>
Drum break (get some Vitamin water, Bob)>
space (good chance to tune up, Bob)>
Estimated Prophet>
Looks Like Rain
Sugar Magnolia>
Man Smart, Woman Smarter>
Sunshine Daydream

E: On the Road Again

hey, i know this is ludicrous, but i would pay $50-70 for this show

and obviously, i have not even used many songs. bob could play 3 nights with very few repeats and play almost entirely his own material, be incredibly entertaining, AND give the FULL feel and VIBE of a DEAD SHOW. isn't that what he's going for????
